Kaya 0.1.0 native standalone
Native standalone contents, runtime requirements and upgrade precautions
These notes describe the native standalone 0.1.0 distribution. Check current release availability for verified platforms, installation commands and downloads. This note alone does not establish public availability or select the stable channel.
Standalone contents
The standalone archive contains three native Rust executables:
kaya, the command-line interface for programs and sessions.kayad, the daemon that owns the HTTP/session service and language execution.kaya-tool-server, the required colocated tool-server companion.
Keep all three executables together. The archive includes file checksums,
release notes, license terms and third-party notices. The sibling release.json
records the source commit, protocol versions and archive identity. Checksums
provide integrity over HTTPS; they are not a publisher signature.
Core execution needs neither Bun nor Node. Optional React/TSX rendering requires
separately installed Node, tsx and React. Native rendering and conversion
operations may require external tools such as Chromium, Calibre, Typst or
Poppler; see media rendering.
Editor packages, kaya-acp and kaya-utils are separate from this distribution.
Native programs and sessions
Use kaya run to start a local program and kaya resume to resume a saved
session. Saved programs retain their captured immutable source snapshots;
editing the original file does not replace a saved program's source.
kaya check and kaya fmt run locally in Rust without contacting the daemon.
See the command-line reference
for session commands, inputs and daemon controls.
Unsupported native capabilities receive structured admission errors instead of
falling back to a TypeScript worker. In particular, the initial native host
does not admit fetch() or download() statements. Provider credentials do not
enable those statement kinds; see the
standard-library reference.
Installation and upgrades
Use only a supported platform listed on the release page. Cross-compilation or a check on another operating system does not establish matching-host installation support. The reviewed installation command selects an immutable version; final publication and stable-channel promotion are separate operations.
The Unix installer verifies the complete cohort before selecting it through its
current symlink. Stop older daemons manually before upgrading. An old flat
installation is preserved and refused; use a fresh KAYA_INSTALL_DIR rather
than mixing binaries from different cohorts. See
Installing Kaya for setup and precautions.
The product version is separate from daemon protocol and HTTP binding 2.0.0. Clients use durable history; older raw text-delta clients need to upgrade. Upgrading binaries does not rewrite a saved program.
Scope
This distribution runs native programs through the command line and daemon.
Browser-local execution, browser BYOK and runnable /try examples require the
separate WebAssembly distribution and its browser qualification. They are not
provided by this native archive; final release availability is recorded on the
release page.
